India, through
the ages has embodied the kinship of God and man in its culture.
Voyaging through the rich heritage of India's art, one journeys
back into a world where myth and reality become inseparable.
Dance was considered to be a manifestation of the scriptures in
a form that could be easily understood by the masses. "There is
no wisdom, no art, nor craft, no device, nor action, that is not
to be found in Natya", says the guru Bharata. Natya includes
dance, drama and music.
For ages, the
spoken word was the manner in which learning was perpetuated
from the "Guru" to the "Shishya". This ancient tradition forms
the basis of learning at Nritya Arpana. For the teacher, each
pupil is unique and is taught the nuances of this dance form to
achieve an innate comprehension of Indian epics, scriptures and
legends, in addition to developing grace, poise and
co-ordination. We strive to ensure that each student experiences
the beauty of dance to make this learning positive and
rewarding. |
